Challenge to Everest

Portable X-ray system sets a Guinness World Record

Challenge to Everest

Altitude 5,364m

At this altitude, oxygen is about half of sea-level conditions, temperatures are below freezing, and strong winds make stable operation extremely difficult. In this harsh environment, we successfully performed X-ray imaging with a portable system and set a Guinness World Record. This was more than a challenge. It was an important validation process proving our technology can support healthcare even under extreme conditions.

Proving Technology at the Limit

Since our founding, MIKASA X-RAY has pursued a world where everyone can access diagnostic medicine anywhere. One key challenge has always been reliable operation in harsh environments.
In remote regions, mountainous areas, and demanding climates, we face conditions such as:

- Battery performance drop at low temperatures

- Stress on high-voltage components under low pressure

- Mechanical shocks during transportation

These are situations rarely seen in standard medical facilities. Based on the belief that if a system works in the toughest environment, it can work anywhere, we brought our portable X-ray system to Everest for full extreme-condition verification.

Challenge to Everest

X-ray Imaging at the Highest Altitude in the World

Carried with an Everest expedition team, the system reached the imaging point at 5,364 meters. With freezing temperatures and oxygen levels around 50% of sea level, this was clearly a non-standard environment for equipment. Even there, our system started reliably and delivered stable X-ray imaging. This achievement was recognized by Guinness World Records as the highest-altitude X-ray imaging on Earth.

Beyond Endurance: A Process for Innovation

The Everest durability test was not just about whether the device worked or not. We collected data on power stability in low temperatures, X-ray output variation at high altitude, resistance to transport shock, usability, and opportunities for maintenance and further weight reduction. Extreme environments reveal issues that laboratories cannot fully simulate, and those findings directly drive next-generation development.

Healthcare Can Reach Anywhere

This Everest test represents one clear message.

"Healthcare can be delivered anywhere on Earth."

Whether in remote regions, mountain areas, or disaster sites, a compact and safe X-ray system can support the first step of diagnosis. The fact that our technology worked in extreme conditions shows that this future is already becoming real.

MIKASA X-RAY will continue expanding the possibilities of portable X-ray systems and pursuing a world where access to diagnostic care is equal for everyone.
